To be more specific.
We just bought a new PLASMA television today and we've set it up and everything is fine. We then hooked up the playstation 3 to it and the amp to go with it and there is absolutely no sound coming from the amp for the ps3. There IS sound from the TV, but no sound from the amp at all. It is very frustrating because with the previous TV which is a lot smaller, it worked fine. No extra cables needed or anything. What's the problem?

To the first and second answers, we've already tried both ways! :-(
We've had a music clip playing while trying to get sound on the ps3 through the amp. We've checked the wires, inputs and everything else and nothing seems to work.

Alright so i have had ps3 for a while and i have really enjoyed it and all of its features. The only thing is most of my friends have a 360 and live and so when i play online with my playstation i don't play with anyone i know. If i buy the xbox 360 and live i will be able to play with my friends but i wont have any games to play on it and i won't have any money saved up for black ops. Where as i have the ps3 and i only get to pay $60 for black ops but not play with any friends. The only real problem i have facing is that do i really want to pay nearly $400 to play black ops online with friends (xbox console+live+game=close to 400 dollars). I need help! also i wont completely neglect my ps3 because of playstation move, killzone 3, and resistance 3 are coming out and i have been a big fan of those games.

okay the first person brings a valid point about a new system coming out. However, i have done research and the capabilities of these systems being able to download updated firmware to make themselves better the new next gen consoles are still far away. I don't think sony or microsoft has started on making their new systems

so ive noticed when my PlayStation 3 is on and my laptop is also
and then i turn my laptop off on the ps3 a notice comes up saying
disconnected from media server. and i looked into it on the music area
and it says it cant connect because i need to register my ps3
now ive googled how to do it, but i guess with the new updates
its not the same as before.

how exactly am i suppose to register it now?

now what exactly does the ps3 and my laptop do when there connected anyways?
is it worth the hassle to register it for this feature?
